Portal-Telecom installed a NETGEAR® ProSecure® UTM10 Unified Threat Management appliance to test under its own network conditions, prior to recommending the appliance for its clients. The company was primarily interested in the ability of the UTM10 to ensure online capabilities, provide safe remote data access and reliable network protection, filter content, and limit access to certain online resources.
“Prior to the introduction of the ProSecure UTM10, our network was inadequately protected”, says Dmitry Kokhanov, Technical Director at Portal-Telecom. “We constantly had to disable our antivirus software to perform routine functions such as installing new software. That put us at unacceptable levels of risk for viruses, spyware, and other malicious software. We were also completely unprotected from information theft, and we didn’t have remote access via VPN.”
