Company Profile
Industry: Clothing Retailer
Organization: The J. Peterman Company
Website: http://www.jpeterman.com/
The J. Peterman Company is a clothing, apparel,
and home goods cataloger based in Lexington, Kentucky. Traveling the world to find "uncommonly good stuff" for over 20 years,
the J. Peterman Company prides itself on its ability to offer customers unique items through its Owner's Manual catalog, as
well as its Web site. The company relies on its business-critical data for its survival, but as with many small and mid-size
businesses, its IT budget is limited. As a result, J. Peterman requires robust, reliable protection, that is also easy to manage.
“Being able to block bandwidth-intensive p2p apps has provided better network quality for everyone.
This has resulted in less desktop downtime, increased productivity for end users, and less headaches for my desktop support staff.”
Matt Rogish, CTO
The J. Peterman Company
Background
J. Peterman Company’s network is comprised of 35 end user systems and 10 servers, which host the company’s essential operations –
including email, Web traffic, applications, and databases. While the end user systems and primary storage are located in the company’s
Lexington headquarters, the rest of their network operations are housed in an offsite data center in Cincinnati, Ohio. The two locations
are connected via site-to-site VPN.
For nearly two years, Matt Rogish has relied on NETGEAR® to protect J. Peterman’s business critical data. Matt has three ReadyNAS®
storage systems and a NETGEAR ProSafe® 48-port GigE switch at the core of his network. Matt has been pleased with the performance of all
his NETGEAR equipment. So when he needed to replace an aging SonicWALL Unified Threat Management (UTM) device, he once again turned to
NETGEAR for the solution.
